The Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr John Rabuku encouraged police officers graduating from the ODPP Basic Prosecution Course to strive for honesty, integrity and fairness as they carry on with their duties.

Mr Rabuku addressed thirty police officers at the graduation ceremony of the ODPP Basic Prosecution Course on Thursday (28.03.24) at the Ministry of Civil Service Training Centre, Nasese.

These police officers attended the four-week ODPP Basic Prosecution Course which was designed to equip officers with the basic prosecutorial and advocacy skills.

Mr Rabuku urged the police officers to conduct themselves in the highest standards with integrity as the beacon of prosecutorial work.

“I encourage you to think and realise that you are at the cusp of what maybe the greatest legal job you will have as prosecutors,” Mr Rabuku said.

“I implore you to continue to improve yourselves in this field. Strive for excellence, integrity, honesty and fairness and at the same time not losing sight of our humanity as diverse people who love this country and call it home. Those are the hallmarks of a good prosecutor.”

The ODPP continues to provide Basic and Advanced Prosecution courses to police and statutory prosecutors in an effort to improve the standard of prosecution in Fiji. The course was facilitated by Assistant DPP Ms Pauline Madanavosa who was assisted by other ODPP prosecutors.
